Pride and Temperance arrives in 33 Immortals – what’s new
Thunder Lotus Games has released the Pride and Temperance Update for multiplayer action-roguelike 33 Immortals, expanding the Game Preview build with fresh systems and gear. The studio positions the game’s 33-player “pick up and raid” structure as a shorter, session-friendly spin on MMO-scale encounters, and this update pushes that idea with more build depth and encounter variety. The patch is available now and focuses on two opposing virtues – exuberance and restraint – expressed through weapons, challenge layers, and new progression targets.
Since its Game Preview debut on March 18, 33 Immortals has seen multiple tweaks, but this drop is framed as a major step forward. Players can expect new tools for precision play, tougher optional modifiers, reworked enemy interactions, and additional ways to personalize runs – all within the game’s raid-like, quick-hit structure.
Two new virtue-driven weapons
The update debuts the Crossbows of Pride and the Glaive of Temperance, each centered on a distinct resource and rhythm. Crossbows favor accuracy and tempo – their Brand effect marks targets so follow-up hits deal double damage, while successful hits on branded foes build Pride that can be spent on a multi-bolt volley. The weapon’s design leans into showy precision.

By contrast, the Glaive rewards measured play. A mid-range melee option, it runs on a Temperance meter that fuels strikes; dropping below half significantly cuts damage. The Backstep ability restores balance and output, making timing and meter management central to its flow. Together, they present two clear archetypes – decisive burst at range versus deliberate mid-range control.
New challenge layers: Ordeals and Agony levels
Players at Feat Level 10 and above can now equip Ordeals – modifiers that strengthen enemies and raise risk in exchange for better payouts. Completing boss fights with Ordeals active advances you through escalating Agony levels, which combine stronger buffs with higher danger. Pushing to the highest Agony tier and clearing its trials yields Legendary rewards, formalizing a scalable endgame loop.
Chamber variety: randomized objectives

Torture Chambers no longer rely solely on the classic “Clear” condition. Two objective types join the rotation: Capture, where players retrieve Seals of Damnation from enemies, and Destroy, which tasks you with eliminating scattered Effigies of Submission. Success summons the chamber’s Elite opposition and opens the path forward; failure forces a regroup and retry. The goal is to add varied pacing and decision-making to in-between encounters.
Combat rework: Armor Break replaces Stun
The update replaces the old stun behavior with Armor Break. Certain enemies now carry an Armor bar that must be shattered via Heavy Attacks before health can be directly damaged. This change elevates heavy swings from a utility option to a tactical necessity, encouraging build choices that interact with armor thresholds. Associated Perks and Relics have been updated, and an armored dummy in Dark Woods lets players test changes in a controlled setting.

The ceiling moves up to Feat Level 15, and with it come prestige cosmetics – the Crown of Immortality and the Cape of Immortality. The added levels reinforce long-term goals for squads pushing high-difficulty chains and experimenting with the new modifiers.
More ways to express your run
Customization expands with Illuminations – visual effects for the End of Run screen. They can be earned from boss chests, Feats, Daily Quests, or acquired from Charon’s shop. The update also introduces 12 Epic Animated Emotes, broadening non-verbal expression during raids and social moments between encounters.

Balance without burnout – why it matters
This update leans into 33 Immortals’ core pitch – raid-scale coordination without rigid schedules – by layering optional challenge tiers and meaningful gear choices.
