EA opens a new Battlefield: 2027 conflict, Portal, Season 1
EA has released Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, EA app and Epic Games Store. The shooter shifts the series into a near-future war in 2027, where a fractured NATO faces a rising private military power, Pax Armata. Players get a nine-mission single-player campaign, an expanded multiplayer suite with classic modes and a new Escalation mode, and a rebuilt Portal for community-made experiences. The studio also outlined a Season 1 rollout starting October 28 with subsequent content drops through December.
The 2027 flashpoint and the Dagger 13 campaign
The single-player story spans nine missions and follows Dagger 13, an elite U.S. Marine raiding unit pushing back against Pax Armata across global hotspots. Setpieces move from Brooklyn to Cairo, aiming for a blockbuster tone with large-scale firefights and high-impact moments.
Multiplayer: classic large-scale modes and tighter skirmishes
Battlefield 6 brings back series staples for large battles – Conquest, Breakthrough and Rush – while emphasizing destruction-driven tactics on detailed, deformable maps. Locations include the Ozodi Peak highlands in Tajikistan, fierce clashes under the Manhattan Bridge, and perilous construction zones on the outskirts of Cairo in the new city of Sobek, plus six additional maps spread worldwide.
Alongside these, the game introduces Escalation, a new way to experience Battlefield’s core combat, and a slate of arena-inspired modes drawing on shooter classics and the series’ DNA: Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination and King of the Hill.
Portal returns with expanded creation tools
The upgraded Portal lets players build their own spins on Battlefield – from mode variants to bespoke scenarios – by tweaking rules and logic to craft familiar or unexpected encounters. The tools are designed to support both quick customizations and deeper, creator-friendly setups.

With Battlefield 6, we aim to elevate the series with intense combat, refined gunplay, epic battles and a new tactical approach to signature destruction, along with the freedom that has defined Battlefield,” said Byron Beede, General Manager at Battlefield.
