Blood: Refreshed Supply lands Dec 4 with source-level overhaul
Nightdive Studios has announced Blood: Refreshed Supply – a new remaster of Monolith’s 1997 cult FPS rebuilt using the original source code. The studio positions it as its most authentic take on Blood to date, following 2019’s Fresh Supply, which was assembled without access to the codebase. The new version introduces visual upgrades, gameplay refinements, and additional scenarios curated with preservation in mind. Nightdive also says this release marks Blood’s first appearance on Xbox consoles. The game is set to launch on December 4 on multiple platforms, including Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
Rebuilt from the original source

Fresh Supply relied on reverse engineering; Refreshed Supply does not. Nightdive’s team spent years tracking down the code and rebuilt the remaster around it to better match the 1997 game’s feel and logic.
“Reverse engineering is extremely time-consuming and is prone to mistakes, leading to various aspects of gameplay feeling off,” said lead KEX developer Samuel “Kaiser” Villareal.

With the source available, Nightdive says it could align behavior and balance more closely to the original design.
“Having the source code to work from not only enables us to make a faithful remaster that matches the original in terms of look and feel, it also allows us to see how the original developers designed the game,” added Larry Kuperman, VP of Business Development.

The studio notes that recovering legacy code is often difficult; CEO Stephen Kick emphasized a preservation-first approach when original materials surface.
“It’s often difficult to obtain the original source code for classic video games… Every time we do discover original code, we make our best efforts to preserve it,” said Stephen Kick.
