During a PAX Australia panel, 2K and Gearbox shared what’s next for Borderlands 4 – laying out firm dates and content beats through the end of 2025. The schedule includes a free seasonal mini-event, the game’s first Bounty Pack DLC, and a new endgame Invincible raid boss. A new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level is also on the way to raise the ceiling for high-end builds. Below is a breakdown of each update, what it adds, and when it arrives.

The first Bounty Pack delivers a focused slice of story content centered on Rush and the Kairos take on Mercenary Day. Expect new main missions, a festive conflict with the Timekeeper’s cultural minister Screw, and opportunities to earn new Legendary gear. This DLC also introduces a dedicated Vault Card that expands rewards through gameplay.

Vault Card contents (earnable via gameplay):

Free Seasonal Mini-Event: Horrors of Kairos – Oct 23 – Nov 6, 2025

The first seasonal mini-event leans into spooky season. During Horrors of Kairos, world boss encounters trigger a blood‑rain weather effect and add two new pieces of Legendary loot to chase via world boss kill rewards:

  • Murmur – Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle: executes weakened enemies; grants guaranteed critical hits on targets under 35% health
  • Skully – Legendary Order Grenade: homes to the nearest target and fires additional projectiles

Free Endgame Updates: Bloomreaper the Invincible and UVHM – December 2025

A new endgame raid boss, Bloomreaper the Invincible, is slated for December. “Invincible” here evokes the classic Borderlands raid tier – not literally unkillable, but designed with huge health pools, very high damage, and new combat modifiers that escalate difficulty. Victory offers a shot at new Legendary rewards.

The same update adds a new Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode level, providing an extra layer of challenge for optimized builds and late-game progression.

Beyond 2025: more on the horizon

The roadmap signals further updates into 2026. The studio has also teased C4SH, the first of two new Vault Hunters planned via future Story Packs, with exact release timings to be announced.

Final checkpoint – why it matters

Borderlands 4’s near-term cadence is now locked: a limited-time event to farm Legendaries, a story-led Bounty Pack with a grindable Vault Card, and an endgame raid plus a tougher UVHM tier. For players, that means clear dates, defined loot targets, and fresh build challenges through the end of the year.
