Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has rolled out a free “Thank You Update” on PlayStation 5, marking a milestone year for the game in 2025. The headline addition is a new playable space called Verso’s Drafts, which expands the world with fresh environments, battles and story beats. The update also layers in 13 new weapons, 16 additional Luminas and a fully featured photo mode. Quality-of-life tweaks and seven new text languages round out the patch, alongside fresh late-game encounters in the Endless Tower. A trailer accompanies the release – and it closes with a tease of an extra challenging surprise.

Verso’s Drafts – a childhood dreamscape with new story moments

The new level, “Verso’s Drafts”, leans into a childlike, wonderland-style aesthetic inspired by Verso’s past. Players can expect new areas to explore, skirmishes to clear and additional cutscenes that deepen the character’s backstory. Composer Lorien Testard returns with new tracks written for this space.

“I lived the creation of the last songs of the OST as a farewell … We had the chance to compose music for a very special level, a deep and playful part of Verso’s childhood.” “I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, if it will be clair or obscur, but I know it’s within that in-between that dreams blossom.”

Gear and customization: more options, more style

  • 13 new weapons to unlock – some themed to the level’s playful vibe (including a candy scythe).
  • 16 additional Luminas for deeper build variety and combat customization.
  • New costumes and hairstyles for each character – from chic to intentionally goofy.

Photo mode: granular control and cinematic freedom

The update adds a substantial photo toolset with creative flexibility and technical options designed for experimentation.

  • 33 filters plus effects, adjustable angles, field of view and color grading.
  • Lighting editor with 10 fully customizable lights and color controls.
  • Usable during cinematics for advanced composition.
  • Free camera with no collision and infinite travel to explore “backstage” spaces.

“You will be able to use this during cinematics … With the photo mode camera, you can travel an infinite distance without collision,” said Senior Gameplay Programmer Florien Torres.

Quality-of-life updates and language support

  • Filters when searching for Luminas.
  • Ability to save preset Lumina loadouts.
  • Option to abandon battles.
  • New text languages: Czech, Ukrainian, Mexican Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian – bringing the total to 19 supported languages.

Endless Tower escalates: new bosses and rewards

Late-game players will find new boss encounters within the Endless Tower. Success – including precise parries – yields fresh Pictos, costumes and additional gear. The studio also teases an extra challenging surprise at the end of the new trailer.
