First look at Lords of the Fallen II: bosses revealed, 2026 window
At The Game Awards 2025, CI Games showcased the first gameplay trailer for Lords of the Fallen II, the next entry in its dark fantasy soulslike series. The footage highlights refined combat, story-led sequences and a tour of Axiom’s scarred landscapes. The sequel is slated to arrive in 2026. Alongside the reveal, the 2023 title Lords of the Fallen received its Version 2.5 update, which goes live now and introduces the new Veteran Mode with deeper combat challenges.
Three bosses headline the trailer

The gameplay centers on a trio of large-scale encounters that set the tone for the sequel’s combat and atmosphere. Each fight emphasizes different pressures – brute force, aerial mobility and arena-spanning control – underscoring a push toward more varied pacing and threat management.
- Heartroot Warden – an armored guardian wielding a chain-wrapped greatsword, built around relentless, heavy pressure and punishing windows.
- Koydreth – a winged commander who moves with predatory agility, using trickery and evasive repositioning, including traversal through a rune-etched mirror.
- Lingao, the Souring Storm – a draconic force that commands wind and lightning, sweeping across wide spaces and attacking from multiple vectors.

New foes beyond the titans
The trailer also introduces several enemy archetypes designed to pressure different player builds and tempos. These additions point to a broader push in encounter variety and worldbuilding.

- Ashen Skin Stealer – a four-armed Rhogar duelist with a hollowed head and chest flame, built for single-target duels and aggressive exchanges.
- Man of Letters – a once-scholarly figure turned Umbral-corrupted berserker that rushes headlong into danger.
- Hysteric – a dual-axe attacker whose erratic style shifts mid-fight to keep timing and spacing unpredictable.
What changes now in Lords of the Fallen (2023)

The original 2023 release receives its final major patch with a focus on enemy behavior and an optional difficulty layer aimed at seasoned players. Versioning and feature scope are outlined clearly below.
- Version 2.5 – now live; applies behavior upgrades to bosses, mini bosses and enemies across Mournstead.
- Veteran Mode – increases challenge with new boss attack patterns, faster transitions and more unpredictable assault chains.
- Boss weapons – several have been reforged with new signature animations to better match expanded move sets.

Why it matters – a sterner test for soulslike fans
The sequel’s focus on multi-phase pressure and distinct boss identities suggests a tougher, more varied challenge, while the 2023 game’s Veteran Mode offers immediate endgame-style tuning for returning players. If you care about combat depth and enemy design, both updates point to a series doubling down on its most demanding strengths.
