Mavrix Brings Authentic Mtb Riding to Xbox Series X|S
Mavrix, a realistic open-world mountain biking title led by UK Red Bull rider Matt Jones and his Cascade Interactive co-founders, has launched in Game Preview on Xbox Series X|S. The project began in February 2024 and aims to balance authenticity with accessibility. The initial release is accompanied by a major update introducing new physics and additional features. The open world is inspired by Wales in the UK, with a design that reflects real MTB culture and events.
What’s New in the Game Preview Build

The Game Preview version arrives with revised riding feel and systems. A headline addition is a Slopestyle mode designed by Matt Jones, featuring authentic in-game judging and commentary from Rob Warner. According to the official announcement, this update also overhauls core physics to better reflect momentum, traction and bike control.
Open World Grounded in Real Mtb Culture

Mavrix offers a large multiplayer open world based on Wales, blending freeride exploration with structured competition. Players can use chairlifts to reach mountain peaks, discover hand-built trails, compete on global leaderboards, and enter slopestyle trick events. Progression mirrors the real scene – riders can earn sponsorships and collect in-game currency, dubbed Moolah, to expand their collection of bikes, clothing and kit.
Controls and Handling Built for Precision

- Dual-stick controls – one stick for steering, the other for rider movement and balance.
- Independent brake mapping – front and rear brakes are split to separate triggers for nuanced control.
- Updated physics – the latest build refines weight transfer, grip, and landing behavior.
Signature Challenges from Matt Jones’ Career

The game recreates several of Jones’ best-known feats, including the River Gap from Red Bull Hardline and a sequence that has players jump through two moving lorries. These set-piece challenges are framed as aspirational goals for skilled riders within the open world.

Developer Perspective
“I grew up playing extreme sports games like SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and Downhill Domination,” Matt Jones notes in the official announcement. “Two years ago, I set out to build a realistic and authentic mountain bike game that represents everything I’ve learned through my career.”
Jones positions Mavrix as a response to the gap he saw in the genre – a focus on authentic technique, real-world event structure, and a riding model that reflects modern MTB.
Why It Matters – a Focused Step for Mtb Sims on Console
Mavrix arriving in Game Preview gives players an early look at a simulation-minded MTB experience shaped by a top-tier rider. The Wales-set world, Slopestyle with judging and commentary, and precision-first controls suggest a clear push toward authenticity – useful for anyone seeking a grounded alternative to arcade-style bike games.
