Snow biome reborn: Rust Console Edition’s Arctic overhaul dated
Rust Console Edition is set for a cold snap – a free content update arrives on November 27 for PS5 and PS5 Pro. The patch reworks the snow biome from the ground up, headlined by a new Arctic Base monument, a Snowmobile to cross the drifts and roaming polar bears that up the danger. Two winter-themed DLC packs release alongside the update, and the seasonal Christmas 2025 event kicks off on December 12 with both returning activities and new twists.
The focus is clear: make the frozen north more active, more mobile and far less forgiving. Here is what changes and when.

Arctic Base: a new combat and puzzle hub
A large research outpost now anchors the snow biome. Inside the Arctic Base, players face armed scientist NPCs, navigate puzzle-gated doors and pick through multiple rooms for loot. The interior leans into tight corridors, side chambers and tricky sightlines – layouts that can reward careful pushes or enable deadly ambushes.

This monument turns what used to be a quieter corner of the map into a high-traffic hotspot, with PvE pressure and PvP risk interlocking across its floors.
Mobility and threats in the snow

- Snowmobile – A fast, noisy ride built for crossing the biome quickly. Its speed comes with trade-offs: the sound profile and visibility can draw attention.
- Polar bears – New apex predators that patrol the snow biome and hit significantly harder than standard bears. Well-equipped survivors can harvest them for resources; under-geared players will need to keep their distance.
Optional DLC landing with the update

- Arctic pack – Centers on cold-weather survival. The Arctic Hazmat Suit reduces radiation protection compared to standard variants but offers strong resistance to low temperatures.
- Ice King pack – Themed cosmetic set featuring frosty gear and a throne.
These packs arrive the same day as the free update.

New for this year:
- Sledges – Faster travel across snow with a seasonal spin.

- Decorated Monuments – Classic locations receive a temporary seasonal makeover.

Additionally, a selection of Christmas-themed skins will be available during the event window.

Final takeaway – why it matters
The update reshapes how players approach the north: more PvE intensity, higher PvP friction and real mobility options. Mark the dates – November 27 for the biome overhaul and December 12 for the festive event – and plan your next wipe with the snow in mind.
