Fallout Pip-Boy design comes to Xbox controllers – now with an Elite option
Microsoft has introduced two Fallout-themed gamepads – the Xbox Wireless Controller – Fallout Pip-Boy and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Fallout Pip-Boy. Both designs are inspired by the in-universe Pip-Boy device, reflecting its warm green glow and recognizable HUD elements. The announcement highlights a Fallout top case treatment, metallic accents and broad customization via Xbox Design Lab. Microsoft notes the standard Pip-Boy controller is being offered for a limited time.
The reveal is accompanied by an official video showcasing the designs and detailing the Fallout touches across the shells and controls.

Fallout look, translated to hardware
The Pip-Boy styling focuses on a green metallic D-pad, a custom top case with HUD-inspired iconography, and a finish that nods to the franchise’s retro-futurist hardware. The default top case and side caps use a black base, which supports additional color choices in Xbox Design Lab. Players can align accents to Fallout factions – for example, Brotherhood of Steel, NCR, the Minutemen or the Tunnel Snakes – or keep the classic Pip-Boy palette.

Customization extends to metallic triggers and the D-pad, offering a wider range of finishes for those who want the Pip-Boy look with specific color contrasts.
Core functionality and compatibility
The Fallout Pip-Boy controller supports Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth compatibility. It connects with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PCs, iOS and Android devices, as well as cloud-enabled platforms. The model includes the controller family’s dedicated Share button for quick capture of screenshots and video clips.
These are standard platform features, ensuring the themed edition functions identically to other current Xbox Wireless Controllers while adding a Fallout-specific shell and accents.

Elite Series 2: pro-level tweaks with Pip-Boy finish
The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Fallout Pip-Boy brings the same visual language to Microsoft’s premium pad. Key hardware features include adjustable-tension thumbsticks, a wrap-around rubberized grip and shorter hair trigger locks for quicker actuation. The Elite platform supports additional control surfaces such as back paddles and expanded button mapping via the Xbox Accessories app.
Profile switching remains central to the Elite experience – players can store and swap controller profiles to match different genres or control schemes, while keeping the Pip-Boy aesthetic across setups.

Bottom line – why it matters for players
For Fallout fans, these editions bring a series-authentic Pip-Boy look to both the standard and Elite Series 2 controllers, without changing how they perform in-game. Whether you want a themed shell with everyday features or a pro-oriented setup with deeper tuning, the Pip-Boy options slot directly into the existing Xbox ecosystem and platform compatibility.
