Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties: Remake Meets Original Story on Xbox
Sega brings the series back with Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties – a single package that combines a ground-up remake of Yakuza 3 (2009) and an all-new story starring Yoshitaka Mine. The collection focuses on two perspectives: Kazuma Kiryu returning to protect those close to him, and Mine’s rise from entrepreneur to hardened yakuza. The remake refreshes visuals, combat, and side content across Tokyo and Okinawa, while the new scenario adds fresh systems and challenges. The bundle is available now on Xbox Series X|S, and a demo covers content from both halves of the release.
“A legend is reborn and a new legacy begins.”

What’s Inside the Collection
Yakuza Kiwami 3 reimagines the 2009 entry with rebuilt systems, expanded cutscenes, and a wide slate of activities. Dark Ties shifts the lens to Yoshitaka Mine with new combat mechanics, a PR-driven side structure, and a high-stakes underground arena.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 – Kiryu in His Prime, Two Styles, Broader Life Sim
Combat: Dual Styles with Distinct Identities

- Dragon of Dojima: Kiwami – an evolved take on Kiryu’s signature style featuring the most attack techniques in the series to date. Environmental weapons remain central to crowd control and finishers.
- Ryukyu style – rooted in Okinawan martial arts, built around the Tinbe and Rochin (shield and short spear). Inputs can chain into Sai, Nichogama, Tonfa, Tekko, Nunchaku, Eiku and Surujin attacks. The tinbe can block incoming bullets for momentum shifts.
Life at Morning Glory: Caretaking That Powers Progression

Kiryu manages the Morning Glory Orphanage, with daily routines that feed into character growth. Players cook, garden, help with homework, fish and catch bugs. Chores and interactions strengthen Kiryu and unlock child-focused substories, opening an expanded range of activities as he grows into a father figure.
Bad Boy Dragon: Assemble and Train a Crew

- Join the local Haisai Girls to defend Okinawa against the Tokyo Night Terrors.
- Lead as Kiryu, recruit allies, and train your squad in multiple formats:
- Baddies Battles – fight alongside 5 allies.
- Rumbles – gear up 20 members for large-scale clashes.
- Motorcycle assaults – charge enemy bases in strategic skirmishes.
Side Experiences and Minigames

Substories built around town residents return, alongside a broad set of diversions. The remake features bowling and Print Club, while, for the first time in series history, Sega’s Game Gear is playable in-game with multiple titles. Arcades include UFO Catchers, Emergency Call Ambulance and SlashOut.
Dark Ties – Mine’s Playbook, Pr Battles and Hell’s Arena

Mine’s Combat and Dark Awakening
- Shoot-boxing core – a precise, elegant style that punishes openings with refined combos and aerial dashes for unpredictable pressure.
- Dark Awakening – transforms animations and techniques, unleashing relentless strikes, face-drags and other brutal strings.
- Heat Actions – includes a sustained face barrage and a heavy gut punch; actions evolve further during Dark Awakening.

Kanda Damage Control: Reputation Work as Gameplay
Mine leads a campaign to reshape Kanda’s public image. Players tackle requests and challenges across Kamurocho to raise Kanda’s standing, with some encounters addressing notably heavy issues. Progress unlocks Drink Links, which further explore Mine’s relationship with Kanda.

Underground Fight Club: Hell’s Arena
Hell’s Arena operates in Kamurocho as a VIP-backed den for violent contests. Daily events split into Hellish Brawls – endurance fights – and Survival Hells – races where hunters give relentless chase. With the arena threatening Nishikiyama Family operations, Mine enters to dismantle it from within, clearing a sequence of high-risk bouts against formidable opponents.

Availability and Demo
Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is available now on Xbox Series X|S. A demo is also available, sampling exploration across Okinawa and Tokyo, minigames, combat, and substories from both halves of the collection.

Why It Matters
Two perspectives, one package – the remake modernizes a pivotal chapter for Kiryu while Dark Ties adds a fresh angle through Mine’s eyes. For returning fans, it reframes a 2009 story with new systems and scenes; for newcomers, it’s a self-contained entry point that spans combat depth, life-sim elements and a focused crime narrative.
