During the Genkidamatsuri event, the team confirmed that DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero will receive new DLC later this year. The add-on expands the roster and brings fresh costumes, stages and game modes. The first wave of characters named so far includes Super 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan) and King Piccolo, with more to be revealed. A pair of free modes is also on the way, rolling out ahead of the full content drop.

Music fans get a notable return – the DLC’s theme song will be performed by Hironobu Kageyama. It is his first contribution in 18 years to content related to the Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series, with both lyrics and composition handled by Kageyama himself.

What the Dlc Adds

The upcoming content focuses on expanding competitive variety and presentation, with additions across characters, cosmetics and arenas. Confirmed elements include:

  • New fightersSuper 17, Bardock (Super Saiyan), King Piccolo, plus more to be announced.
  • New costumes and stages to broaden visual and tactical options.
  • New modes complementing existing gameplay.

Free Modes: Mission 100 and Survival

The first drop arrives as a free update with “Mission 100” – a solo mode featuring 100 battles built around specific conditions for your team and opponents. The structure mirrors a mode from DRAGON BALL Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, giving veterans a familiar challenge framework.

A second free update, planned for spring, will add a “Survival Mode”. The feature set was announced alongside the DLC reveal, setting the stage for multiple ways to test endurance and adaptability.

Music Tie-In: Kageyama Returns

The DLC theme is performed by Hironobu Kageyama – a significant callback for the series. It marks his first Sparking!-related theme in 18 years. According to the announcement, Kageyama is responsible for both lyrics and composition, aligning the soundtrack with the game’s high-intensity battles.
