Book X opens in Fire Emblem Heroes as Ragnarök descends
Intelligent Systems and Nintendo have rolled out Book X for the Fire Emblem Heroes mobile game, introducing a new narrative arc centered on Ragnarök. The story brings the winter of annihilation, Fimbulvetr, to the icy kingdom of Nifl under the will of Alfaðör. Alongside the launch, a New Heroes summoning event adds characters from Fire Emblem: Three Houses and ties directly into Book X. The update arrives with a set of celebration events and can be started immediately, even if previous Books remain incomplete.
Book X – premise and accessibility
Book X sets the stakes around the twilight of the gods as Fimbulvetr descends upon Nifl. Players step in as the summoner with Alfonse – now entrusted with the power of Askr, the Divine Dragon – and join Princess Fjorm of Nifl to confront the catastrophe. You can begin Book X without finishing Books I-IX, allowing newcomers and returning players to jump straight into the latest chapters.
“Thou shalt demonstrate thy strength…and save the realms!”
How to obtain Chosen Hero Alfonse
The update introduces a new variant of the prince: Chosen Hero Alfonse. According to the official announcement, clearing Book X, Chapter 1 on Normal difficulty grants this Hero as a reward. This milestone ties directly to the opening of the new story arc and can be completed as soon as Book X becomes available.

Feh Channel – update briefing
The latest Feh Channel episode provides an official rundown of what is new in Fire Emblem Heroes, including Book X highlights and event details. Watch here:
Core gameplay snapshot
Fire Emblem Heroes remains a strategic, turn-based tactics title designed for short sessions on phone-sized maps. Movement and combat use touch-and-drag controls – you can initiate attacks by swiping an ally unit over an enemy – while map layouts emphasize positioning, skill timing, and team composition.
Bottom line – what this means for players
Book X broadens the ongoing saga with a self-contained entry point, a new version of Alfonse tied to the opening chapter, and a Three Houses–driven banner on a defined schedule. If you follow the main story or collect Heroes, the Ragnarök arc and its limited-time lineup mark a clear set of goals and dates to plan around.
